Chimera

Chimera

Description

Over 1000 mm length. This is a Chimaeridae of either genus Chimaera or Hydrolagus. The distinction depends on whether or not the anal fin is divided, and that feature cannot be checked from this perspective. Ken Sulak’s guess from overall shape of the body is Chimaera. There are several parasitic laernaid copepods attached to the head and tip of the dorsal fin.
