Cancer pagurus
Description
The crabs are attending a baited trap on the seabed. Cancer pagurus and the hermit crab Pagurus prideaux reached the bait within minutes of deployment. Other species attracted to the bait were ling (Molva molva), redfish and asteroids. The white markers are to indicate the size of the organisms and are 10cm apart. C. pagurus were found at a density of 0.01 individuals per metre squared at Lancaster
